Obedience - Or When YOLO Cannot Take You Places

Image
YOLO stands for "you only live once" (comparable to "la vida es una") and has been THE life motto of the youth a few years ago. The basic idea behind it is that you can do whatever you want because there is no consequences. You want to buy overpriced clothes? YOLO. You want to jump off a cliff? YOLO. I think you get the idea. The funny thing is that this is not even a revolutionary idea; it has been around for centuries. Even King Solomon in his life went through a phase of YOLOism. >>  So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun. << (Ecclesiastes 8:15 NIV) But is this mentality really the best for us? Obedience - Are You a Cage-Guy or Railing-Guy I have talked to many people about faiths and beliefs. It is usually the atheists or the super-liberal Christia...

The Atonement - Power To Become

Image
"The Atonement - brought to you by Jesus Christ - Gives you more Power than Lifting Crosses" I know, I know...it is a special kind of humor, but with something like this the Atonement could be advertised if it was a fitness program. In fact, it will give you power and strength, just like a fitness program. The Atonement allows us to overcome the consequences of death and opens the gate for us that brings us back to our Heavenly Father who is the Eternal God of the universe. Also, I think this is a good time to correct my previous statements. This event has not just happened all by itself, no, but it has been performe...

Repentance -The 180 of Your Life

Image
Have you ever done something and later regretted it terribly?! Have you ever said sorry to someone you have done wrong?! Guilt is a feeling that keeps us in a dark mental state where we feel disconnected from God. In this sense, guilt is something awful. But guilt can also do great things in our lives. Without the feeling of guilt, how would we know that we have done something wrong?! Some people say this feeling we get when we do something wrong is our moral compass or, as I would call it, the Light of Christ . Most importantly, we should never suppress this feeling because it serves a divine purpose. Instead, we should develop a growth mindset to figure out what we have done wrong and then try to not do it again. In the New Testament, we read of a story where a woman is brought before Jesus. The men who caught her claimed she was guilty of adultery. Let's see how Jesus resolves the situation: >> “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” ...
